Finished up the last photoshoot with Stephen Kim yesterday evening. This photoshoot will be a feature article for Camaro Performers Magazine. I am very honored to be in this magazine and Stephen Kim did an outstanding job. Looking forward to seeing the end results. Kyle and I enjoyed watching him work his magic.
Finally got a shakedown run with the car last night. Ran a 9.56 @ 143.68 with only 1st and 3rd gears. 2nd gear was not working . The vids will be up in the video section later today. As you can see the car needs suspension tuning because it does not go straight out of the hole. I had to hang on and try to keep it in the groove!! Can't wait until I fix these issues and hit the track again with a larger shot of nitrous.
The problem has been found. Had to upgrade my ignition system to a big bad boy 7AL-3 and HVCII Pro Power Coil. Now I should not blow the spark out! LOL. Back to the dyno this weekend to see what happens. Update....since then we put down 760 rwhp. Still working on it!
Spent 13 hours on the dyno this weekend trying to tune the car on nitrous. Did not have much luck as we are not through tuning it. Car would not take more than about a 200 shot as if the nitrous line would not flow it. It would go pig rich as soon as I hit the gas as you can see on the chart it was 9:1 air/fuel. We will get it worked out and spray that 300 or 300+ shot soon.
Still made 727 rwhp at about 5000 rpms!!!!!!!!
Wheelie bars are now on the car. Bill Buck did a great job installing them as well as the Madman travel limiters. Cant wait to try these out. Now I can get the suspension safely dialed in without trashing my car.
The car will be going back to Bill Buck's Race Cars for another addition. I will be adding removable wheelie bars and Madman travel limiters to the car. The reason behind this drastic addition is I really do not want to tear up my car on the first pass with nitrous. I know the car will stand straight up and hit the back bumper and slam back down if I don't add this safety cushion. I will use the wheelie bars to get the suspension dialed in and they then will be taken off and set aside. Better to be safe than sorry right? Have come along way to tear the car up.
Also after this mod, we have another dyno session planed to finish out the tune. This will happen in the next few weeks and I plan on making a race July 20th at S.A.R. to see what this car will do.
Well........I finally hit the nitrous to this new motor. Went to a DynoDay at Texas Motorsports and decided to test the system out. It worked perfect. Put some crazy power down on the rollers. Just need to finish up the tuning and we will be set. I can not wait to get to the track! This project has taken way too long!!!!!
Check out the "Nitrous Dyno Run" video here.
New transmission is back in the car. We will be hitting a Mustang (loaded) dyno on the 13th to spray the nitrous for the first time on this engine. Soon after we will be going to the track to break records!
Soon we will be trying to break the record for Nitrous Powered LT1 car. The current record is 9.08 @ 159.7 mph by Vince M. If we beat this mark we will not only be the fastest nitrous LT1 car, but also the 3rd ever to run an 8 second pass with an LT1. WISH US LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dynoed the car Sunday. Car put down 522 rwhp naturally aspirated (no nitrous). Still not finished tuning. Need to hit the dyno one more time to see its full potential. I would guess with nitrous we should have over 900 rwhp and over1000 fwhp. Big thanks to Moe, Jeff, Dave, Allen, Heath, Kelly, Kyle, Scott for the support yesterday.
DYNO TIME! We will be dynoing the car on Sunday the 1st of October. Car is ready for it. Just need to change the spark plugs and oil/filter. Keep your fingers crossed! Gonna spin the motor over 8000 rpms!
Decided to put the car in the Gatesville Cruzen Cruzers Antique car show on Sunday while we were in town. Ended up winning "Best Overall Engine". Very happy to win that and enjoyed being there with my great aunt and uncle M.H.and Jeanette Shepherd. Also enjoyed being around friends and family. Dyno session coming soon and then track time!!
Car is now 99% complete. We are waiting on two 180 degree fittings for my blow down tubes, gonna get the car scaled by Bill Buck, and then hit the dyno. Moe Bailey came by this past weekend and helped tweak the tune so it will idle and drive better. Also Allen Marek stopped by Saturday to help me trouble shoot some gauge cluster problems. Drove it for the first time last night around the block. Car sounds MEAN!!
She's...........................ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well.........after 36 hours of thrashing this weekend the car is alive and running. We worked our tails off to try to get the car ready for the PINKS race on the 2nd. Unfortunately we decided not to make the race. Even though the car is running, we still have alot to finish before it is track ready. The short amount of time we have to finish the car makes it impossible to finish. I know we could do it but when you rush a job you can make careless mistakes and it can cost you a motor, trans, car....etc. We just want to step back, relax, and come back and look over the car and take our time on the rest. This will re-assure the car is done right. I can say that WE TRIED!!! Big thanks to the guys that thrashed on the car this weekend: Myself, Alan Marek, Dave Vassar, Charles Bourassa, Skizzy, Robert, Moe Bailey, Davic Clark (for letting us use his lift and shop), and the wifes for picking up lunches....etc. Stay tuned for the dyno session.
New engine is in the car. Just want to thank a few guys for helping out. Jeff, James, Heath, Kyle, Scott.
